Constructing World Class Universities: Lessons for Central Asia

Switzerland to allocate additional funding for elections in Kyrgyzstan
The Government of Switzerland will allocate additional CHF 600’000 to the project “Strengthening Democratic Practices in the Election Processes in the Kyrgyz Republic” with the goal to support the efforts of the Kyrgyz Government in this area.

EBRD arranges US$ 300 million syndicated loan for Kazakh Railways, KTZ
Restructuring and modernisation programme will include railway sector reform. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and a group of international commercial banks are providing a syndicated financing package of US$ 300 million in support of a comprehensive modernisation and restructuring programme of the Kazakhstani rail operator, Joint Stock Company National Company “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” (KTZ).
Naryn to receive support for rehabilitation of the water supply system
Today, on 23 July, 2015 the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic through the Ministry of Finance and the Government of Switzerland through the Embassy of Switzerland in the Kyrgyz Republic have signed a grant agreement on Water Supply Project in Naryn.
University of Central Asia’s Naryn Campus Taking Shape
The University of Central Asia’s (UCA) first undergraduate campus is taking shape in Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic. Construction is on schedule for the campus to open in 2016. UCA’s centralised, phased strategy harnesses the talent of award-winning designers, a multi-national construction management team and specialised regional and local contractors.
