Naryn Governor Receives Head of Aga Khan Development Network Representation for the Kyrgyz Republic
Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic, 22 October 2014 – Mr Amanbai Kaiypov, Governor of Naryn Oblast, officially received Mr Shamsh Kassim-Lakha, the Head of Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Representation for the Kyrgyz Republic, during his working visit to Naryn.
EBRD and Switzerland finance wastewater improvements in Khujand, northern Tajikistan
EBRD loan and SECO grant will enable municipal water company to improve sewerage network and treatment. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) have joined forces to enable Khujand, the main city of northern Tajikistan, to modernise its sewerage network and to reconstruct an old wastewater treatment plant that had fallen into disuse after the collapse of the Soviet Union. This cooperation follows two previous successful projects by the EBRD and SECO to improve the city’s water supply.
UCA Institute of Public Policy and Administration Launches Certificate Programme on Policy Analysis for Afghan Civil Servants
Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, 14 October 2014– The University of Central Asia’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration (UCA IPPA) launched its Certificate Programme in Policy Analysis (CPPA) for civil servants from Afghanistan in Bishkek on 14 October 2014.
Osh, Kyrgyz Republic, September 29, 2014 – A new soccer field was inaugurated at Kirov high school №4 in Osh. Over 2,500 children now have the opportunity to train and play on the modern field which meets all the modern standards. The field was construction was made possible thanks to the project Women's Peace Banks implemented by the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) with the financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Institute of Public Policy and Administration Hosts Seminar on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Tajikistan
Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan, 19 September 2014 -The University of Central Asia’s Institute for Public Policy and Administration (UCA IPPA) held a seminar on micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 19 September 2014. IPPA presented the results of its research on MSMEs in Tajikistan, with a focus on recommendations to unlock their growth potential. The research and seminar were conducted within the framework of the Small and Medium Enterprise Growth Project for Central Asia, an initiative of USAID and the Aga Khan Foundation.
