On May 13, 2025, the KOICA Office in the Kyrgyz Republic, in cooperation with the KOICA Alumni Association, held the first Knowledge Sharing Seminar of 2025 for 88 civil servants from various government agencies. The theme of the event was “The Role of Women in IT in the Kyrgyz Republic.”
The seminar marked the launch of a new series of events under the CIAT (Capacity Improvement and Advancement for Tomorrow) program, aimed at enhancing the capacities of public servants, developing professional competencies, and promoting sustainable development in KOICA’s partner countries.
The seminar featured a presentation by Ms. Elina Sakkaraeva, an expert at the Center for the Development of Parliamentarism and Democracy under the Jogorku Kenesh. She introduced the project “DIGITAL CASA – Kyrgyz Republic”, sharing insights into the goals and current progress of this major regional initiative focused on digital transformation and improving connectivity infrastructure in the country.
An inspiring talk titled “Technologies for Change: Cleaning Up Our World with Innovation” was delivered by Ms. Ainura Sagyn, co-founder of "Tazar Mekenim". She discussed modern technologies used in the fields of waste management and sustainable consumption, and presented newly developed app and platform that support recycling efforts in Kyrgyzstan. The mobile application helpы users locate recycling collection points, sort waste, and track their environmental impact.
The panel concluded with Ms. Aisuluu Kozhomkulova, Regional Director at StrategEast, who spoke about opportunities for women in the IT sector in the Kyrgyz Republic. She emphasized the importance of supporting women’s leadership and increasing female participation in high-tech industries, particularly as the country advances its digital transformation.
These seminars are part of KOICA’s global strategy to strengthen friendship and cooperation between South Korea and its partner countries. Since KOICA began its activities in Kyrgyzstan in 1994, 1,035 civil servants have taken part in various capacity-building programs. Many of them continue to share their knowledge and experience through the KOICA Alumni Association, contributing to the country’s development.
