Embassy of Switzerland in Kyrgyzstan awarded journalists in the context of the 16 days’ campaign of activism to end violence against women and girls

Today, on 8 December 2016, the Ambassador of Switzerland to the Kyrgyz Republic, H.E. René Holenstein, presented awards to journalists who won the competition for the best publication, TV/ radio material and multimedia product about violence against women and girls.

University of Toronto and the University of Central Asia sign an academic partnership agreement on education and research collaboration

The University of Toronto (UofT) and the University of Central Asia (UCA) signed a memorandum of understanding to build linkages through curriculum and faculty development, faculty and student mobility and joint research collaborations. The first initiative under this agreement foresees UoT’s Computer Science Department develop UCA’s undergraduate Computer Science curriculum to be delivered at its recently launched campus in Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic.

EBRD, EU and EIB join forces for water upgrades in the Kyrgyz Republic

US$ 6.7 million financing package for the city of Kyzyl-Kiya. Under its framework to support water and wastewater modernisation in the Kyrgyz Republic, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a loan for a much-needed upgrade to the water and wastewater services in yet another Kyrgyz city, Kyzyl-Kiya.

EBRD and EU support energy and water efficiency in the Kyrgyz Republic

KyrSEFF II to boost resource efficiency for businesses and residential sector. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is launching a new US$ 35 million credit line to boost energy savings and resource efficiency in the Kyrgyz Republic. The investment is an expansion of the Kyrgyz Sustainable Energy Financing Facility (KyrSEFF) and is complemented by more than €9.2 million in donor funding provided by the European Union’s (EU) Investment Facility for Central Asia.

561 Graduate at UCA School of Professional and Continuing Education’s Second Graduation in Afghanistan

The University of Central Asia’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (UCA SPCE) celebrated the graduation of 561 learners across its six Satellite Learning Centres (SLC) in Afghanistan in October 2016. These centres are in Darwaz, Ishkashim, Shugnan and Faizabad, as well as Aga Khan Education Service Centres in Ishkashim and Zebak.
