About JICA

The Japan International Cooperation Agency is an independent governmental agency that coordinates official development assistance (ODA) of the Government of Japan.

The main purpose of the agency is to promote social and economic growth in developing countries and to promote international cooperation.

JICA started its activities in the Kyrgyz Republic in 1993. In 2000, the first members of JICA’s Volunteer Program were dispatched to the Kyrgyz Republic. High expectations are placed on the contribution to the economic and social development of the Kyrgyz Republic and the building of a good relationship with Japan at the grassroots level. Requests for the dispatch of volunteers in various fields have been submitted from various organizations of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Responsibilities:

  • Administrative work for JICA Volunteer Program
  • Support in the formulation and management of volunteer requests from the Kyrgyz side
  • Support in coordination with related governmental organizations, counterparts who request JICA volunteers, and other organizations
  • Support in the coordination of the ongoing activities of JICA volunteers
  • Assistance in data collection and analysis in the responsible sector
  • Miscellaneous, necessary arrangements/ logistics to implement projects, such as arrangement of accommodation, translators, transportation, appointments of meetings, procurement, etc.
  • Interpretation and translation between Russian/Kyrgyz and English (Japanese);
  • Ad hoc tasks, ordered by the Office

*Scope of work can be changed in case there are changes in the office’s situation/ operation.

Place of work:

Bishkek, Panfilov Street, 178, JICA KR Office

*Short-term business trips inside the country and neighboring countries can be required.

Conditions of contract:

  • Period: July, 2026 – December 31, 2026. The contract is subject to annual renewal based on positive performance (labor contract); however, in no event shall the contract be extended beyond 3 July 2028.

*The first 3 months are a probation period.

  • Contract type: Employment agreement
  • Working hours: 9:00 - 17:30 (Lunch time 12:30 - 14:00). The overtime work can be required.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or diploma of higher education
  • Expected work experience is about 2 (two) years. The prior relevant-experience (including intern) in international cooperation or related fields would be considered an advantage.
  • Awareness of situation in the country in the said field
  • High level of English, Russian, and Kyrgyz languages (Japanese language is considered as an additional preference)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and concise reports, emails, and presentations
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Discipline, punctuality, eagerness at work, ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Kyrgyz Republic’s citizenship
  • Competencies: You will be required to play an important role as one of representatives of Japanese organization in this country.

  • Requirements: The essay must be no longer than 300 words. It must be submitted in English. No specific format is required.
