The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of the Kyrgyz Republic and the UN World Food Programme (WFP) have established two automated gabion net production workshops in Chui and Osh provinces and improved the capacity of the digital disaster monitoring and early warning systems of MES.
As part of creating favorable conditions for the development of international air services, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) with Swiss support helped conduct a detailed analysis of the potential of Manas International Airport JSC (JSC “MAM”) and its comparative advantages for expanding the international flight's geography. Priority routes with the greatest potential for development were identified, and detailed recommendations were developed for each route in the form of an airline development plan.

Bishkek, 31 January 2023 – The Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic and the World Bank today signed an agreement for an $8 million grant funding provided by the Swiss Government as a contribution to the Electricity Sector Modernization and Sustainability Project led by the World Bank.
The Ambassador of Switzerland to the Kyrgyz Republic Olivier Bangerter and the Representative and Country Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Mr. Kojiro Nakai have signed an agreement on the contribution from the Government of Switzerland to the WFP’s Country Strategic Plan for 2023-2027 (CSP). The First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Azamat Mambetov took part in the signing assuring the commitment to support and proactively participate in the implementation.
DECEMBER 12, 2022 – More than 1000 people attended cultural events dedicated to fighting gender-based violence in 21 municipalities across the Kyrgyz Republic. Local governments announced a drawing contest among school children and hosted theatrical performances focused on domestic violence.
Nearly 200,000 low-income individuals in the Kyrgyz Republic were able to improve their homes over the last decade with support from an initiative developed by IFC, local microfinance organizations, and financial support from the Swiss Government.
