Communique of the Twenty-Fourth Meeting of the IMFC: Collective Action for Global Recovery

The global economy has entered a dangerous phase, calling for exceptional vigilance, coordination and readiness to take bold action from members and the IMF alike. We are encouraged by the determination of our euro-area colleagues to do what is needed to resolve the euro-area crisis. We welcome that the IMF stands ready to strongly support this effort as part of its global role.

UCA’s School of profesional and continuing education celebrates 5th anniversary: Summer graduation sees 200 graduates including 28 from Afghanistan

The University of Central Asia’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (UCA-SPCE) celebrated its fifth anniversary with a Summer Graduation in Tajikistan on 27 August 2011 at the Khorog Theatre. The ceremony was attended by Mr Qodiri Qosim, Governor of Gorno-Badakhshan and Representatives of the Afghanistan’s General Consulate office in Khorog.

IMF Announces Staff-Level Agreement with the Kyrgyz Republic on First Review of the Extended Credit Facility

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) team, led by Mr. Christian Beddies, visited Bishkek September 7-21, 2011 to hold discussions for the first review under a three-year, SDR 66.6 million (about US$106 million) Extended Credit Facility arrangement with the Kyrgyz Republic (see Press Releases No. 11/245).

Affairs and Development held our eighty-sixth meeting in Washington D.C. on September 22, 2011. Mr. Pravin Gordhan, Minister of Finance of South Africa was in the Chair, with Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, Minister of Finance of India as First Vice-Chair and Mr. Agustín Carstens, Governor of the Bank of Mexico as Second Vice-Chair.

An opening ceremony of Information and Resource Centers under Osh and Jalal-Abad offices of the Ministry of Social Protection of Population of the Kyr

An opening ceremony of Information and Resource Centers under Osh and Jalal-Abad offices of the Ministry of Social Protection of Population of the Kyrgyz Republic take place on 22th September. The greeting speeches devoted to the opening of the centers will be given by the Minister of social protection of population Ms. Aigul Ryskulova, UNHCR Representative in Kyrgyzstan Mr. Hans Friedrich Schodder and the director of HelpAge International Gulnara Abdykalykova.

IFC Develops Risk Management in Kyrgyz Republic to Boost Economic Growth and Performance

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, organized a presentation to introduce a formal risk management education and certification program, training that enhances companies’ ability to achieve goals and mitigate risks. Improved risk management in the private sector contributes to better economic growth and performance.

The third Roundtable of the National Dialogue for Kyrgyzstan to be held in Bishkek

The third Roundtable of the National Dialogue for Kyrgyzstan (NDK) will take place in Bishkek on 22-23 September 2011. The main aim of NDK is to conduct an informal high-level dialogue drawing on all sectors of society to exchange views about socio-political and other developments in Kyrgyzstan with a view to enhancing understanding and contributing to a creative and peaceful resolution of the pressing issues facing Kyrgyzstan.

The Aga Khan Development Network Hosts Seminar on Corporate Social Responsibility for Leaders from Business, Government, and Civil Society

The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Civil Society Programme organized a “Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for Business and Society” seminar as part of a CSR week in the Kyrgyz Republic.  More than 60 representatives from leading businesses, Government and Parliament, civil society, and the international community attended.
