EBRD Vice President to visit Kazakhstan

Alain Pilloux to hold meetings with key ministries and major businesses. 

EBRD Vice President, Banking, Alain Pilloux will visit Kazakhstan from 8 to11 July 2018 to meet with the country’s political and economic leadership.

Mr Pilloux will see Deputy Prime Minister Erbolat Dossaev, Minister of Energy Kanat Bozumbayev, Minister of National Economy Timur Sulejmenov and senior management of the Baiterek Holding, JSC Kazakhtelecom and the Astana International Financial Centre.

The EBRD delegation in the talks will include Natasha Khanjenkova, Managing Director for Central Asia and Russia, and Agris Preimanis, Director for Kazakhstan.

During his visit Mr Pilloux will also sign an infrastructure project and hold meetings with public and private sector companies who are working with the Bank.

In 2017 the EBRD approved its new country strategy for Kazakhstan and signed a three-year Partnership Framework Arrangement with the country aimed at the modernisation and diversification of the national economy.

Most recently, EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti attended the Foreign Investors’ Council Meeting in Astana in June at which he gave a speech where he emphasised the Bank’s continuing support for the modernisation of the Kazakh economy. The EBRD is a founding member of the Foreign Investor’s Council.

To date, the EBRD has invested over US$ 8.7 billion in the economy of Kazakhstan.
