Women Judges Conducted Guest Lectures for Secondary School Students

Bishkek - On December 15, 2017, the public association “Kyrgyz Association of Women Judges” (Association), with the support of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program, holds a roundtable to discuss the results of the project “Raising Awareness on the Judicial System of the Kyrgyz Republic” within which, a series of guest lectures about the judicial system of the Kyrgyz Republic were conducted for secondary school students.

The roundtable will start at 3 p.m. in the “Signature” conference hall, 2nd floor, Park Hotel at the address: 87 Orozbekov Street.

The guest lectures were held from September to November 2017 in 27 schools throughout the country. More than three thousand high school students learned about the peculiarities of the work of judges and the judiciary. The participants also received a special illustrated booklet "I Know about the Judicial System of Kyrgyzstan" in both the Kyrgyz and Russian languages, which was developed by the Association for dissemination among schoolchildren.

Members of the Association (judges of the Supreme Court, Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court, and local courts), members of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, and representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education and other government and local self-governance bodies, international organizations and civil society will participate in the roundtable discussion.

The Collaborative Governance Program (CGP) works to strengthen the partnership between the Kyrgyz Republic Government, civil society and private sector. The program is funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and implemented by the East-West Management Institute (EWMI).
