Green Economy: Eco-friendly Development

On October 31, the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic held a press reception entitled “Green Economy: Waste-Free Production as a Source of a New Business Model”.

The Deputy Minister of Economy Mr. Daniyar Imanaliev told journalists about the Minsitry’s efforts in implementation of green economy issues in development strategies of the country taken in cooperation with UN Initiative “Partnership for Action on Green Economy” (PAGE). The Ministry is planing to develop a Green Economy Concept and action plan by end of 2018. Daniyar Imanaliev says the document will define sectors of green economy development, introduced standards, role of the private sector and civil society, eco-friendly production of recources in economy.

The priority will be designing of green standards. Daniyar Imanaliev noted issues of green economy directly connected to safe development of the society embracing health, environment, sustainable economic growth and security of the country. “In this regards we are expecting that this document will be a key component of the new government program “Zhany doorgo – kyrk kadam,” says Dainiyar Imanaliev. Energy saving, resource-savings and innovations are thorough elements of the Concept.

jana2.pngAt the event, the mainstream media of Kyrgyzstan got awards for extended coverage of green economy issues. Bermet Borubaeva got award of “green blogger”. Dina Maslova, Hilola Ashurova and Irina Bairamukova won a prize for “the best article on green economy for print and internet media”. Ermek Aktanov and Alisher Tashmatov got awards for “the best radio story on green economy”. Saltanat Kudaiberdieva and Ismat Shaizakov were awarded for “the best TV story on green economy”.

The award ceremony was held as a result of the first stage of the mass media competition for the best coverage of issues of green economy. The competion was held by the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz republic under support of GIZ and UNDP under awareness raising campaign on green economy. The competion started on July 24, 2017 and continues untill November 17, 2017.

The event is conducted in cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbHGerman Corporation for International Cooperation GmbH (GIZ), UNDP-UNEP Iniative “Poverty and Environment”, UN Initiative “Partnership for Action on Green Economy” with participation of Thinktank “BizExpert”.
