Together we’ll say “NO to domestic violence!”

On July 11, 2017, the Public Association “Nurjolber”, with the support of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program, will host a round table in the village of Baetovo of Ak-Talaa district to discuss the implementation of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Safeguarding and Protection Against Domestic Violence” dated April 27, 2017.

Participants of the round table will discuss the strategic plan for implementation of this law aimed to prevent domestic violence and protect social rights of women in the villages of Ak-Talaa district, and will develop an action plan at the local level.

The round table will be attended by the employees of the prosecutor’s office and law enforcement bodies, members of local Kenesh (Parliament), heads of local self-government bodies (Aiyl Okmotu), specialist of the social protection authority, specialist of the district administration on social issues and representatives of the mass media.

During the round table, heads of Aiyl Okmotu and deputies of the local Keneshes will work to approve and sign a strategic plan on implementation of the law.

The district administration will oversee the public monitoring of the implementation of the law. The representatives of the law-enforcement bodies and district administrations will conduct monitoring of the current situation in six target Aiyl Aimaks of Ak-Talaa district. The Public Association “Nurjolber” will conduct public information meetings on realization of the strategic plans in six target Aiyl Aimaks.

The Collaborative Governance Program (CGP) promotes effective collaboration among civil society, the private sector, and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), and is implemented by East-West Management Institute (EWMI).
